Geometrical shapes considered pyramids are polyhedrons containing a base that is a polygon. Pyramids also have lateral faces that are always triangles. A hexagonal pyramid contains six triangular faces that are all the same size, or congruent.

Hexagonal pyramids are considered right pyramids because all faces on the pyramid are congruent. The six faces meet at the same point, called the vertex, and is located at the top of the pyramid. They always have 12 edges.
The star of solomon was adopted by the jews during the holocaust but it derives from the buddist culture along with the natzi swastika. both symbols can be found in archaeological artifacts from asia.

A hexagram (Greek) or sexagram (Latin) is a six-pointed geometric star figure, {6/2} or 2{3}, the compound of two equilateral triangles. The intersection is a regular hexagon.
It is used also in other historical, religious and cultural contexts, for example in Hinduism, Occultism and Islam and in last centuries as Jewish identity too.
In mathematics, the G2 root system is in the form of a hexagram.
The hexagram, as a simple geometric shape, like for example the triangle, circle, or square, has been created by various different peoples with no connection to one another. But there is a belief that King David had used it as an emblem. Some say that Solomon had it on his ring too.
The hexagram is a mandala symbol called satkona yantra or sadkona yantra found on ancient South Indian Hindu temples. It symbolizes the nara-narayana, or perfect meditative state of balance achieved between Man and God, and if maintained, results in "moksha," or "nirvana" (release from the bounds of the earthly world and its material trappings).
It's said that in antique papyri, pentagrams, together with stars and other signs, are frequently found on amulets bearing the Jewish names of God, and used to guard against fever and other diseases. But curiously the hexagram is not found among these signs. In the great magic papyrus (Wessely, l.c. pp. 31, 112) at Paris and London there are twenty-two signs side by side, and a circle with twelve signs, but neither a pentagram nor a hexagram.

Usage by Hinduism:
Six pointed stars have also been found in cosmological diagrams in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. The reasons behind this symbol's common appearance in Indic religions and the West are lost in the mists of antiquity. One possibility is that they have a common origin. The other possibility is that artists and religious people from several cultures independently created the hexagram shape, which after all is a relatively simple and obvious geometric design.
Within Indic lore, the shape is generally understood to consist of two triangles—one pointed up and the other down—locked in harmonious embrace. The two components are called 'Om' and the 'Hrim' in Sanskrit, and symbolize man's position between earth and sky. The downward triangle symbolizes Shakti, the sacred embodiment of femininity, and the upward triangle symbolizes Shiva, or Agni Tattva, representing the focused aspects of masculinity. The mystical union of the two triangles represents Creation, occurring through the divine union of male and female. The two locked triangles are also known as 'Shanmukha' - the six-faced, representing the six faces of Shiva & Shakti's progeny Kartikeya. This symbol is also a part of several yantras and has deep significance in Hindu ritual worship and history.

The Hexagram is an old symbol and is not related to Jews at all. It seems that after Hitler usage of this occult symbol attempting to shame the Jewish people; today they are using this symbol as their own. There are also some Jews that don't believe in the Hexagram because of the reason. And about Israel we should know that the symbol is the 7 candle menorah. It seems that the usage of the Hexagram in the Israeli flag is more related to the secret societies of Britain. They mostly believe in the Zionism Idea -- not mentioned in most cases - and developing a Zionist Government led them to use the symbol on the Israel Flag."
